There is no greater joy than seeing you smile so bright

all the roads in this world, whichever I may take, will always lead back to you

In all that is dark, you are my light

A magical power, yours, a presence that makes everything right

smoothing rough roads or paving ones anew

There is no greater joy than seeing you smile so bright

I cherish your comfort on days when it feels that everything is a slight

when stormy clouds let loose and chase the bright away

In all that is dark, you are my light

Always making sure my armour is shining – but you’re the real knight

dragons slaying perhaps not, but my defender to the core

There is no greater joy than seeing you smile so bright

Moonlight and the stars seldom illuminate the night

as vividly as you illuminate my life

In all that is dark, you are my light

To you I owe the words that flow out on the page so right,

and everything else I’m proud of in me

There is no greater joy than seeing you smile so bright In all that is dark, you are my light

March 2022 : Poem of the month

Mother's Day Edition!

My first time experimenting with a Villanelle poetical style. Inspired by one of my most favourite poems : 'Do not go gentle into the good night' ~ Dylan Thomas
